You're absolutely right, but you're missing the point.
No, players (generally) have no say in who makes up their supporting cast, which in this case hurts guys on all-world football teams like Manning and Brady -- but for years, "Most Valuable Player" awards have been around to reward players who most carry their teams to success. As far as I'm concerned, without Brett Favre, the Packers would be lucky to have won even a handful of football games this year; to me, that's
most valuable.
It's why there's an Offensive Players of the Year award as well.
