| Re: Any runners out there? I love running, for me it's the single best way to lose weight quickly. I'm trying to do some now to get back into it, but it's hard going building it up. I'm trying not to run every day like I used to (a) because the knees get fucked up doing that....even on a treadmill and (b) I don't think it allows me to rest enough between runs.
So at the moment I'm running every other day, but only to a slightly pathetic three and a half miles at the moment. The pace isn't bad, it's just over 20 minutes for that, but the distance has to go up soon.
I've run the Great North Run before (in England) which was good, but I had achilles problems going into the race so my aim of finishing in about one and half hours, came down to doing it in just over two.
As a teen, I ran for my school (anything from 200m to Cross Country). I preferred Cross Country really and ended up running for my county (Surrey) in that (I think I was 14 then).
I wasn't ever going to be anywhere near good enough to do that while in it (The Nationals which were held in Birmingham). My family were there and, me and another guy from my county, decided to sprint to the first corner (where we'd then go out of sight of everyone watching) and be in the LEAD!!! Lol, I think I blew up after about a mile and a half of this seven mile run. I ended up 95th out of 212, which was higher than I thought I'd be, but the downside was that I didn't overtake ANYONE throughout the race. So it felt bad!! |
