I don't now and I didn't then ponder this too greatly. Sometimes, people "think" about stuff way too much and, largely, these people don't seem to me to be too happy. Life just happens and you work to make it happen well and enjoy it.

It can be a little to do with intelligence as well. I watched a programme recently that basically covered how people that are greatly intelligent (and I'm not suggesting for one moment that any of us are) are typically far more unhappy than people that have set their sights lower, or alternatively, gain greater pleasure in more simple pursuits.
