Yes, you have the right idea. That's basically what it's supposed to be about. But the entire reason you're supposed to even show generosity is because of what Jesus Christ did. Hence why it's called Christmas. Not, "let's just all be nice and have a jolly old time one week or one day out of the year."
Also from what I've gathered in most faiths, you could be the best person on earth, giving to charity and whatnot. But if that person doesn't believe in God it matters not. I do question that a bit, because I admit that's a little weird, but then again all God is asking for is belief. |
