most of these were signals origanly. the one foot high kick was meant to train you for jumping as high as you can. when the guy who's signaling sees something(only one so a whole group of people don't scare them off), he jumps as high as he can and the hunters either walk or run(i'm not sure, havn't heard this story in a long time.).

the seal hop was like a live decoy, with a hunter under seal skin and when the seal gets close enough, all you got to do is catch it.

the other ones were probably for comptition to stick your chest out as a man and show the girls who's the man. such as the wrist carry, ear pull, knee jump, and aslaken high kick(probably the women came up with this back in the day for their own compitition, i don't know.)

there is also the stick pull, log walk(put seal oil and grease the log and see how far you can go.) i'll try to remeber what else there was. it's not just for the youth, there's a event called WEIO(World Eskimo Indian Olympics). Held every summer and we do alot of these along with, dress shows(not sure what's it called) Women try to see who made the best parkas(eskimo jackets made of aniimal skin) Miss Alaska(beutiy compitition with parkas), Blanket toss( a dude at Fairbanks got high enough to move a seiling plate and he got a standing ovation for it. here is one video of what it is.

It's a whale skin or seal skins and it's for a celebration after catching a whale. this is the same building where WEIO is held every year.

you'll see the bridge i hit with my ski doo. when you see them getting into the water, the bridge is in the background. i was going left to right. the big pipe you see is covering the railing, it's the sewage pipes.

before the video stops taping and it looks like they're about to land, that's the village. not sure if most of you will be able to see the village, but that's how big Anaktuvuk Pass is. , i honestly don't know who these people are though.
