The front page of espn.com says "Depite a lackluster season, fans voted Barry Bonds as an all-star starter"

That "lackluster season" is a .304/.516/.603 line (The .516 OBP leads the majors) with 16 home runs. Oh, and he's 5-for-5 on stolen base attempts.

Perhaps he's having a "lackluster season" because he only has 40 RBIs. But that's just a function of how terrible his team is, not how "lackluster" a season he's having

Oh, and I definitely would not take the reuslts of all-star voting to say that fans "love" Barry Bonds. He's having a great year, and the fans rewarded him for it. I think the reaction he gets in opposing ballparks, is more an indication of other fans' love for him
