More PS3 woes.
By IGN Staff
May 23, 2007 - The PS3 dragged the PlayStation brand further into unexplored territories of the extensive Japanese gutter system this past week as the system dropped down to sales of under 10,000 units. We don't have all the old Media Create data handy, but four digit sales of a new, non-supply-constrained PlayStation product sounds like a rarity. We wouldn't be surprised if this is the first time it's ever happened, unless you go back to that pre-Final Fantasy period where the Saturn was selling (or at least shipping) better than the original PSX.
And things are likely to get worse for the system for the time being. The only release over the next few weeks is from Electronic Arts and has the word "Street" in the title. Between now and the mid June release of Ninja Gaiden, don't be too surprised if the system dips even further into the realm of four digits.

I know the Japanease Market is differnet than the rest, but it is also the area tha Sony has always excelled. This coupled with the fact the the FF games may be coming to 360 as well doesn't look good. The only market I've heard of the PS3 being somewhat succesful in as of late has been in the European market. They need to do something and do it soon before they have to put the nail in the coffin for this gen of systems.
