Sting then comes to the ring and tells Kurt that he’s not sure if Kurt made him tap first or if Sting pinned Christian Cage first. Cage comes out and says that since there was an indecision of who the winner was, the rules say the title goes back to the champion. Jim Cornette then got into the mix and told Cage that no matter what happened, Cage was on his back so he is NOT the champion – Sting tapped out, so he is NOT the champion – and just when Kurt thought he was going to be officially crowned champ, Jim said that Kurt was NOT the champion either. Cornette says he wants someone to standout as the undisputed top dog. He then tells the three contenders “If you’re not hungry enough, we’ll bring some new blood into the title mix. Within the next 5 weeks, we’re gonna have 5 qualifying matches for the King of the Mountain match at Slammiversary and there we will crown a TNA World Champion.
In the back, Jeremy Borash is with the Fallen Angel Christopher Daniels. JB says “Rhino busted you open on Sunday and tonight you’re having an open challenge for a First Blood Match. Explain the logic in that.” Daniels says “There is no logic – there are only actions and consequences. Sting understands about consequences.” Jeremey asks what this had to do with Sting, but Daniels walks off.
As we head to the ring for our first match, Eric Young and his new friend Stomper (the new TNA mascot) are seen in the stands partying with the fans. Cameras shift to the ring where Alex Shelley and X-Division Champion Chris Sabin face off against Jerry Lynn and Tiger Mask. Sabin and Shelley controlled most of the match using their arsenal of double team moves; ending the match with a double super kick to Tiger Mask, followed by a Shellshock from Shelley. After the match, Sabin and Shelley attacked Jerry Lynn. Mr. Backlund tried to come to his rescue, but the two on one odds became too much. Black Machismo Jay Lethal then came to help and ran Sabin and Shelley off.
A video is shown where we get another cryptic message from Father James Mitchell. He says “Now that Abyss is dead and buried, I’m going to replace him with a new creature. Now is time for my original plan in TNA – To unleash a destructive force of viciousness that TNA has never seen before.”
Backstage once again, JB catches up with Kevin Nash. Before Nash could say anything, Sonjay intervenes and wants to apologize for his actions on Sunday. He goes on to say that he really didn’t mind the Oz outfit and that Nash has done so much for his career. Sonjay extends his hand and Nash shakes his hand. Yet, Nash pulls Sonjay in and tells him next time he won’t be so forgiving.
The Fallen Angel’s open challenge First Blood Match is next and Raven accepts. Immediately Raven tries to stab Daniels with a screwdriver, but misses. He then breaks apart his kendo stick and tries to cut Daniels with it. Daniels gives Raven a low blow before the kendo stick could cut him open. Daniels then grabs the kendo stick and stabs it into Raven’s head repeatedly until blood emerges from his head. After the match, Daniels headbutts Raven’s open wound until Daniels himself gets busted open. Serotonin then comes into the ring and Kaz wants Raven to be punished for losing the match. Yet, before Kaz could hit Raven, Havoc and Martyr stand in his way. Raven shoves Kaz out of the ring and Kaz does Raven’s pose as he leaves.
Backstage, Jeremy Borash asks Sting what he thinks about the King of the Mountain qualifying matches. Sting says that he’s not going anywhere and that he will qualify five times if he has to. The Fallen Angel then walks in and says to Sting that he is doing what Sting told him to do, yet Sting says Daniels went one way when Sting told him to go another. Daniels then said “When I needed guidance, you gave it and now I’m fully committed – why aren’t you? I was lost; it seems now that you’re the one who is lost.”
The pied piper Eric Young is leading some fans around the ring as Stomper cheers on. Eric gets in the ring and says that his friend, Jeff Jarrett told him to stand up for what’s right. “I can’t thank him enough, but first I need to thank you the fans for standing up for me. I stand before you a free man.” Just as Eric says that, Robert Roode and Ms. Brooks come to the ring. Roode says that he could fire Eric, but the rules have changed. He says he’s going to sue Eric for all that he’s worth and gives him legal papers. Eric wipes his rear with them and shoves them back to Roode. Robert and Ms. Brooks then attack Eric, but Stomper got on the ring and distracted them long enough for Eric to get a fan at ringside to get a chair from under the ring and throw it to him. Eric went to hit Robert, but ran away before he could get hit.
The King of the Mountain qualifying match is next as Kurt Angle faces off with Rhino. The War Machine is in control most of the match, and even goes for a Gore early on, but Angle moves and hits a German suplex. Rhino then hits a northern lights suplex and a superplex from the top rope, but still only to get a two count. Rhino goes for a belly to belly, but again reversed into a German suplex. Angle then goes for an Olympic Slam, but Rhino finally hits the belly to belly suplex. Rhino once again goes for a gore, but as he is about to hit Angle, Kurt kicks Rhino in the head and hits the Olympic Slam and gets the three count and becomes the first participant in the King of the Mountain Match.
In his office, Jim Cornette announces Sting and Samoa Joe will face off in the next KOTM qualifying match. Yet, before the show ends, the Steiner Brothers enter the office with a bang as Rick rips off the door. Scott says that they want Team 3D to meet them in the ring next week. Cornette says “Team 3D and the Steiner Brothers in the same ring at the same time? I smell money. You got it.” |
