Re: Favre wants out of the Bay?

God, stop calling it THE BAY.

To address these recent rumours: I honestly can't blame Brett, and I really wouldn't hold the remarks against him. The team is clearly in a re-building mode -- which I believe is best for the Green Bay Packers -- and Favre is an old guy who wants to win now. He's been the saviour of this franchise and he's earned his right to voice his opinion. What irks me a little (and frankly, I'm not sure if I believe them to be true) are the rumours that he asked for a trade (also, according to rumours, he's "fine" now). Brett should be smart enough to know that the best chance he's got to win a championship this year (albeit a slim one) is with Green Bay; no other team that needs a starting QB is going to contend.

As far as Favre being in Green Bay right now: I'll say it time and time again, but Brett Favre is clearly the best quarterback for the Packers right now, and it would be idiotic to bench him in favour of a guy (Rodgers) who's never really impressed in practice or preseason games. Brett was very solid last year, and he led an overachieving team to an 8-8 record. Sure, he looked hopeless on some of those throws he tried to make, but that's what happens when your top wideouts come down to Ruvell Martin and Carlyle Holliday. I'm sure that's why he was so pissed when the team couldn't acquire Moss.

Anyway, homer alert, maybe, but if Brett shows up to play this year, the Packers could easily make some noise in a wide open NFC.
