| Re: MLB Off and Season Discussion Thread EVERY year, they Yankees go through a rought stretch and people write them off, and then they end up winning the division. Two years ago they started out 11-19 and they still came back to win the division.
That's the beauty of a 162-game season...the good teams win out in the end, and these rought stretches mean little in the long run.
I've mentioned Pythagorean W-L% before...it's used to estimate a team's winning percentage based on their runs scored and runs allowed. Over the course of a 162-game season, this tends to approximate a team's actual winning percentage pretty closely. So, a team that has a worse record than they're Pythagorean W-L% has been unlucky, and a team that has done better, has probably benefited from luck. But over the course of the season, the luck usually evens out
The Yankees are 8-11. They're Pyth W-L record is 11-8. They'll be fine, as long as they keep scoring runs like crazy, which is not a stretch of the imagination with that lineup
Everybody in the NY media is a fucking moron, by the way. |
