Re: Im the longest competition ever..........fix me?

Needless to say, however it had been factored we'd be out by now!

I like the way it has bought new countries to the cricket party (this year Ireland, last time Kenya who made the semis!). One day Cricket is the only way to get more countries involved and interested (and by winning it, it made Sri Lanka a force to be reckoned with some years back).

However, the format has to be changed. What were there, 16 countries in it this time? Why not make it a simple four groups of four with the top two going through in each and then the last eight just playing each other in straight quarter final knock outs?

The idea of having it in the West Indies was a fantastic one (major test playing nation suffering with lack of interest in recent years) but then the ICC stupidly overpriced (and out priced) the West Indian public so the grounds have virtually been empty.

Ridiculous tournament in a lot of ways this time around. At least the 4 best teams are making the semis.
