Welker was a very solid player in our fantasy league last year, since he caught a lot of passes (one point per) and amassed tons of return yardage (one point per 20 yards). That said, I played against him in our championship game, and he blew it for the other guy.

Anyway, Welker is a good pickup for any team, but trading a 2nd-rounder seems kind of steep, especially in a receiver-heavy draft like this one. He fits the mold of a Patriots receiver though: tiny, gritty, unlikely to score in the red zone.

Blitz (I can and will always call you that): for my money, the 49ers signed the best free agent in football this offseason, Nate Clements. You'd better hope Vernon Davis becomes a Gates-like #1 receiver at tight end, though, because Ashley Lelie is a stiff.
