What's nice is that Konerko turned down better offers from Baltimore and Anaheim to stay here. They also signed John Garland to a 3 year extension when he would have been a free agent after the 06 season and certainly would have commanded more than the $29 million he signed for. Both he and Konerko stressed that they thought the offers were fair enough, and most importantly they wanted to remain with the Sox.
They also added through subtraction by trading their resident bullpen arsonists, Damaso Marte and Luis Vizcaino. Right there their bullpen is better by default.
Overall they don't seem to be basking in their championship, which is really good news. Kenny Williams has said he's approaching the offseason as if they never won anything.
