"Former UFC light heavyweight Tito Ortiz and his friendly rival (and UFC President) Dana White have finally set a date for their much-hyped sparring match, according to Ortiz’s latest MySpace blog post.
The “exhibition” bout will take place on March 24, according to Ortiz.
Said the Team Punishment fighter:
Well time to let you know what’s next for me. I will be boxing Dana on March 24. I will get to beat his ass once and for all. For me and the one’s that want too. Then in April or May I will be on the rode to the title once again. This time the belt will be mine. You want to know who it is ?… lol I will let you all know as soon as I know.. Ortiz sat out of UFC competition for more than a year because of a salary dispute. When White finally lured the former champ back to action, he had to include a clause in the contract that stated Ortiz would get a sparring match with the UFC president and former amateur boxer.
Frankly, the “sparring session” has been hyped more than most UFC main events, so it’ll be nice to get it out of the way. What had the makings of a funny and quirky event quickly turned into an annoying topic of conversation. That’s not to say it still can’t be funny, but I think most fans are simply ready for it to be over."
