Everyone is making a big fuss about Noah, but UCLA has a player just like him in Ryan Hollins. He just doesn't have the pedigree of Noah, and he doesn't play enough minutes to get the kind of attention Noah does, but Hollins can do pretty much everything Noah does.
I think that's why no one has taken UCLA very seriously this whole time, because Ben Howland doesn't let anyone play enough minutes or take enough shots to become a 'star'. I think the comparison to the Pistons and Spurs is a very good one. They are just an extremely well balanced, deep, selfless, defense oriented team. They may not produce any NBA lottery picks, but they might produce a championship. |
