Senate passes bill dealing with Ten Commandments
March 01, 2006 3:46 PM
FRANKFORT, Ky.
A bill allowing local governments and schools to post the Ten Commandments in displays of historic documents cleared the Kentucky Senate today.
The passage leaves it one step away from final passage.
The bill also would order the return of a Ten Commandments monument to the state Capitol grounds.
The 6-foot-tall granite monument is now on display outside a Fraternal Order of Eagles lodge in Hopkinsville in southern Kentucky.
The proposal prompted little discussion and passed the Senate on a 37-to-one vote. The dissenting vote came from Senator Ernesto Scorsone of Lexington.
The bill now returns to the House, where it originated, for consideration of Senate changes. If the House concurs, the measure will go to Governor Fletcher.

So do you think this has the possibility of going to the Supreme Court? Could this be the first step to putting the Ten Commandments back in school nationwide?
