My comments were in direct conjunction with evolution, abortion, and homosexuality. The bible can't accurately express the needs of these three areas or any science. You said yourself that the bible doesn't mention abortion, so the only views we get about it are half-hearted interpretations.
The statements aren't really bad or good though, however, The Buddha did say them well before the big JC did.
