Well Russia and Germany were allies in theory due to the Nazi Soviet Pact, but that was a bluff by the pair of them as Stalin knew his army was not ready and Hitler knew that his army did not have the resources to attack Russia just yet.
Stalin knew and Hitler knew that they'd be enemies at some point, the NSP simply delayed the process until both sides were ready. Russia invading Poland was more to get back land they felt was theres after the Treaty of Versailles ripped some of their land away. GB knew this and so did the USA. Hitler was the problem, USSR was the ally waiting to turn but wanted to get their land back first which they did and then turned as expected.
