World War Two, the German War Effort was never strong enough to takeout Vichy France and was never gonna take over Britain because they tried and failed long before the Americans decided to enter the fray. The British could have made a better landing using lesser numbers to establish a beach head at Dunkirk but Eisenhower wanted allt he pomp and circumstance of a big invasion fleet which was pointless yet effective. |
I'm not a World War II buff like you are (and honestly don't even care too much about the actual war aspects, I'm more interested in the characters) but isn't it true that the Brits were closely reaching bankruptcy just prior to the US entering?
I remember that finale letter Churchill wrote to FDR about how the bombings and the war were sending them into bankruptcy and to please enter the war.
