That is not true at all. If I see one more person type that phrase I will hunt you down and kill you. The First World War was won long before the Americans got involved, the Germans had no hope of holding out after the Battle of the Somme.
World War Two, the German War Effort was never strong enough to takeout Vichy France and was never gonna take over Britain because they tried and failed long before the Americans decided to enter the fray. The British could have made a better landing using lesser numbers to establish a beach head at Dunkirk but Eisenhower wanted allt he pomp and circumstance of a big invasion fleet which was pointless yet effective.
As for Pearl Harbour, well the United States asked for it and they got what they wanted, they simply did expect the attack to place in the manner and surprise in which it did. Never confuse yourself and believe that the Japanese one day got out of bed and headed for America. They were provoked big time through the US sanctions on Japanese imports which were essential for their country to survive. Once they invaded Manchuria, the US simply wanted an excuse to wade in which they did. It was a sad day but worse things have happened in war. Much worse. Lets see if there is a commerative thread in June.
