Although the clubs are in agreement, the players have yet to sign their contracts.

Reyes, 22, has been an inconsistent performer for Arsenal since his move to the club from Sevilla in January 2004, and has made no secret of his desire to return to Spain.

He has been a long-time target of the nine-times European champions.

Real's 24-year-old midfielder-cum-forward Baptista, who has failed to make it into new coach Fabio Capello's plans, was a target for Arsenal before he joined Real from Sevilla last year.

He was reported by Spanish media to have passed a medical with Arsenal.

Whilst in other news, West Ham announced they have signed Carlos Tevez and Javier Mascherano from Corinthians on permanent deals.

I'm so amazed that Tevez and Mascherano are at West Ham. Definitely the biggest coup of the season and West Ham are definitely into the Europe/Champions League race now in my opinion. They have a great young side whilst also a nice mix of experience, they really look like a strong outfit this year.

As for the Arsenal/Madrid news, I'm not particularly surprised. And I actually reckon Baptista can capture some of the form he showed for Seville, over here in England. And Reyes was obviously for heading in the other direction.

Unfortunately no sign of any late Man Utd transfers...Unfortunate for me anyway.
