Two terms if more the limiting factor than 10 years, as that'd only happen if someone were the Vice President and then the President died. (The normal presidency term is 4 years, as I'm sure you know.)
It became a constitutional amendment with Franklin Roosevelt, however it was considered common courtesy to "avoid tyranny" to run no more than twice, which started with George Washington. Oddly enough Washington actually was forced to run for a 3rd time because some delegate in Virginia added him to the ballot.
