Horse Racing

I'm surprised I've never mentioned this on JV before - but then again, I hardly ever even THINK of dropping by the Sports Forum.

I'm willing to go out on a limb and say that I'm into horse racing more than anyone else on this board. Ofcourse, this goes hand in hand with gambling. I love having a few bucks here and there on the greyhounds during the week, but come the Friday morning newspaper, I spend considerable time going through the form guide for the weekend. I would spend anywhere between $20 and $50 a week on betting, probably more during the Spring Carnival.

Anyway, this weekend pretty much is the start of the Spring Carnival - about a month of big races leading into Australia's premier Group 1 race, The Melbourne Cup. It's dubbed "Th race that stops the nation", and quite literally, every single person in Australia just about watches the race and has a few bob on something, or is atleast in some work or school syndicate. That's been my experience anyway.

Tomorrow's big race "The Caulfield Cup" is equal second for "big races" with the Cox Plate, which runs next weekend. Both are generally considered good form guides for the Melbourne Cup. I'm fucking pumped.

Anyone else get into horse racing?

My tips for tomorrow in the big one:

1. Sir Dex
2. Dizelle
3. Leica Falcon

Cheers.
