| To be fair, I can't remember Brett making excuses for any loss or any interception, ever. He's definitely battled injuries (and addictions), but he always carries the weight of the loss, and you can see that by how depressed he gets when the Packers lose.
The media is a whole different story, but you can't blame him for being the NFL's posterboy for the last decade. There is no NFL official that wants to see Favre play poorly or retire, and I think that's where the excuses come from.
Of course I would love to see Brett win another Super Bowl before he hangs them up. I figure his only chance will be next year with a rebuilt team, and if he do it, there's no way he can ever be ignored in "best QB ever" debates. Especially considering two more seasons will be enough (I think) to break Marino's TDs and yardage marks. |
