1) I guess in this situation I don't have much of a choice in the matter. I'd have to go and hope I survive. I shall pack a huge amount of western porn down my trouser leg and hope to god I can buy my way out if I get captured!!

2) This scenario is more interesting. My father served in the Second World War and people of his generation and before would accept the reasons given for sending them to their possible deaths. They believed the politicians and they also (generally speaking) had more faith in that if they died they would be going to a better place. Now I'm a total non believer, either in religion or in our elected politicians.

Therefore, I wouldn't go unless I believed fervently in the reason for it. Another reason people would go in the past was that if they didn't and they lost the opposition would invade them in turn. I don't see Iraq and their troops ferrying their asses up here to invade us.

The bottom line is I wouldn't want to die for something I completely don't believe in, so no I'm not going in this instance.
