| America-The land of the sexually repressed? Ok, the title would seem like I am picking on all American's, but I am not. I have nothing against the country and actually like it over all. But there are some layers that just don't fit in with how they want to appear or project in the sense that it is the land of the free.
Look at it's foundation. Extremely repressed and restricted. Sex was a bad thing and never to be spoken about. The word pregnant was not even allowed to be spoken. Very religious on all scales. Many things that were enjoyable were seen as evil or bad. A quick look at history tells you that freedom was just an illusion.
The reason I bring this up is because of how it has spilled over into todays way of life. You go see a movie today that contains a topless woman who gets stabbed and it gets an A rating. You go see a movie who has a topless woman and gets her breast kissed and it gets an R rating. What does that say? What kind of message is that sending? Violence and nudity are ok but sexuality are nudity is restricted? Why is that? Who is controling this? Wouldn't you think that telling young people that sex is bad that it is only going to make them more curious? Does this not reflect in teenagers today in how they dress and the age they are sexually active?
Your current government is appose to gay marriage, but there are many states who openly welcome it. We are not talking about other countries. These are states with in your own country saying that they accept it with no problems. What happened to separating church and state? Why are they being ignored?
Keep in mind that there are a lot of things about America that I like and enjoy and over all I like America and enjoy going there. But why do people blindly accept these very obvious things that are wrong while waving the flag and boasting the greatest country in the world? Why aren't these people who are protesting things like the WWE going out and doing something useful for their country like trying to rid poverty or doing something to help education or the homeless?
What kind of country do they want to actually live in? Doesn't repressing so many things only cause them to be more desired and seeked out and exploited? Wouldn't you think it would cause more problems?
Why is sex or being sexual seen as such a wrong thing or negative thing in the eyes of a country? |
