| honestly dak, you went to public school and your teachers never mentioned creationism, b/c at my public high school, a kid did ask the science teacher about evolution vs. creationism and she explained that both have followers and people can believe both. she also said that creationism is not a scientific theory, unlike evolution. she was very open and unbiased.
to top that off, b/c not all teachers are great. one of the walls at my school had a mural painted of evolution, man rising and standing upright, and another wall had a mural of creationism.
we never had any problems.
yes, you can't pray in school, but you I don't see teachers being fired too often for mentioning creationism, in fact, I've seen firings for Bush bashing, for Bush praising, for pledge of allegiance bashing and for forcing students to say the pledge. and I've seen teachers fired for trying to lead prayer in school after being warned not to do it, but most of all I've seen teachers fired for having sex w/ students. I have yet to see a story about a techare fired for admitting that people believe in God or creationism.
anyways, what I'm saying Dak, is whether you believe or not, there is a place for everything. this country is full of churches and religious schools where you can go or send your children to learn about God and that's fine, but it's not science. |
