| Well, I don't know the definitive answer either. I know a few people at least had beaten Andre before Hogan did but I've no idea whether they actually pinned him or not as Hogan did.
I think I read that he had a genuine undefeated streak from 77-87 but this may be proved wrong.
As a matter of interest WMIII wasn't the first time Andre wrestled Hogan. They wrestled at Shea Stadium in 1981.
I'm guessing he wasn't really given a World Title shot as, for quite some time, he was a marquee attraction all around the world and didn't by any means just wrestle for WWE, instead he would be bought in for short impact periods. By the time he did wrestle pretty much solely for WWE he was a broken down man and it probably would have just been a sentimental decision to give him the belt again (of course he had it once but probably just for a few minutes!!) |
