| After the wedding I think the average fan doesn't really care about the Edge/Lita/Matt thing that much, since it doesn't look like the payoff that everyone wants will ever happen. WWE seems content with using Kane as a surrogate, despite the fact that nobody buys it.
What they should do is make Edge champion FAST, before this Matt-related heat has completely cooled. I know they're probably going to throw Cena in a feud with HHH sooner than later, but it would be better for Edge to take Cena's title away at the next PPV (maybe even sooner). Then, after he's been champ for a few months, and comes across as a true headliner, bring Hardy back and have the two feud. I know that after several months the interest won't be as high, but it's something. If it's done right you can make them both main eventers, and the whole real-life ordeal will have furthered their careers considerably.
But instead I bet Hardy never comes back, and within months Edge is stuck back in the midcard netherworld that's been his home for the last year or so. And no matter what happens, I don't see Lita ever being an effective face again. While the whole affair will likely end up being the most damaging to Hardy (he lost his dream job), there's no question at all that it's damaged Lita's career. |
