| Well, the Yankees have far and away the highest average attendance in baseball. As for why it's not always filled to capacity, here are a few reasons why
1. There is another team in the same city
2. Much of the city is comprised of people who relocated from other places. Which is why you always see so many Red Sox fans at Yankees games
3. With 81 games a year to choose from, why go see a July game against Tampa Bay when you can go to a game against Boston or the Mets? Its those bullshit games against teams like Detroit and Tampa that bring the average attendance down
4. Some of the Yankee badwagon fans have jumped off, unlike the Red Sox bandwagon fans. You gotta admit there are are a TON of Red Sox bandwagon fans
5. Highest ticket prices in baseball
6. Extremely inconvenient to get to the stadium.
7. Dangerous neighborhood surrounding the stadium
8. Ridiculously high concession stand prices
You cant expect a team to put 55,000 people in the stands EVERY game. I mean, there were like 45,000 people in the stands last night for a mid-week game against the Pirates. To me, thats damn impressive |
