| 1) I actually like the concept of the tie. It rewards teams that come from behind and penalizes teams that can't hold leads. The new deal they have where you get one point for an OT loss is ridiculous though...you lose, no points. Period. Bettman's a tool anyway, he's run the NHL into the ground.
Fighting is another point I disagree with. With all that stickwork going on, there needs to be a way to retaliate. 2) Now, as far as too many teams making the playoffs...how about too many teams, period? This actually goes for all sports. Screw the player unions, drop at least 1/3 of all the teams in all the pro sports and no more expansion unless you can show that A) there is a surplus of talent not getting playing time, warranting an extra team and then B) it goes into a market that can and will support a professional franchise. No more of this moving to different cities garbage. If the player unions want to cry about lost jobs, then increase the roster sizes by 10%. The rest of the guys out of jobs aren't good enough to be professional athletes anyway. I'm sick of seeing diluted talent pools killing professional sports. 3)Injuring an opponent. If you intentionally cause an injury to your opponent then your suspension is the length of time the injured player misses, plus an escalating individual suspension once the player returns. If someone intentionally injures an opponent so badly that they can no longer play, then neither does the idiot who caused the injury. 4) Get rid of chopblocking in the NFL entirely. Its cheap and it ends careers. Why this hasn't been addressed already is still a mystery to me. Injuries caused by chopblocks are met with the punishment I described just above. 5) Have league commissioners grow a set. I'm tired of seeing players get suspended for things like, oh I don't know...going in to the stands and hitting fans maybe? How about getting caught using a corked bat? Anyway, I'm tired of the league dishing out a punishment, for which the player clearly has no excuse, only to be met by the player's and the player union's loud crying about the injustice of it and the summary reduction of the punishment. Just once I would love to see a commissioner tell a player "You're right, 8 games isn't fair...make it a month. Now get out of my office!". Yes Sammy Sosa and Ron Artest, I'm looking at both of you. |
