| 5 rule changes to better each sport Give your ideas on how to make the games we love (or want to love more) better
Since hockey is in such disarray, I'll start with that first: 1. No more ties: Ties are the stupidest things ever. Every game should have a definitive winner and loser. My idea is this: The first OT is played 4 on 4. If still tied, the second OT is played 3 on 3. If still tied, you go to a 5-on-5 shootout. This will open up the game for the two OTs, and the shootout would only be like a last resort 2. No more fighting: Seriously, it's a joke that hockey players are allowed to fight...also it leads to the presence of "goons", who have little discernible hockey skill, and are just around to injure stars and start fights 3. Goalies are fair game outside of the crease: If the crease is going to be considered such a sacred place, then you should be able to level a goalie if he steps out of the crease 4. Power plays continue even after a goal is scored: That'll make you think twice about committing a penalty 5. Less teams make the playoffs: More than half the league makes the playoffs. That's unacceptable. Either go to baseball's 8-team system, or football's 12-team system, with the top 4 teams getting byes. Then, the first round would be a 3-game series, with the teams getting byes getting a week off to rest up, heal from injuries, scout the other teams, etc. |
