Yeah, Ventura is ridiculously clutch. He has like a gazillion Grand Slams in his career. That was probably the hardest decision. That, and Hooper in right. He played most of his career in Boston, but ended his career in Chicago and was pretty good those 5 years, so I went with him. Fisk, Thomas, Baines, and Collins were no-brainers, and Shoeless Joe was a pretty easy choice too. |
You probably could have gone a couple other ways with RF, including Magglio Ordonez, but I didn't want to nitpick. I remember Ventura had 2 Slams in one game against Texas back in 95...Labor Day that year, I think. I was so mad when they let him go, he deserved to finish his career here. We deserved to have him finish his career here. But then if you look at the moron GM we had (Ron Shueler, idiot extraordinnaire) and how he and Reinsdorf treated Cartlon Fisk (released him in the middle of a series IN Cleveland in frigging June after he set the record for most games caught)...can't be surprised.
