Technically they do. The little targetted advertisements to the right of your screen are specifically sent to you by what is in your email inbox. Humans don't read it though -- just their automated system.
The entire google set up is sick. They can basically track anything and everything you do, which is why they're so successful. To sum it up, they have this little profile based on your the cookie on your computer (it's a 10 year cookie ... the longest available by law) which then tracks what you search for on the google network, if you read google news, it keeps that tracked, if you have gmail, it tracks the email there. They have other ventures too that I can't even think of and that's all tracked as well. Soon their mapping system will be tracked as well, so say if you search for Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio, watch for amusement park ads to start popping up.
