And I agree with Freak that until the late 90's, the payroll disparity was not nearly as large. And also take notice that the Yankees, like Simon said, have not actually won the World Series since going on their ridiculous spending spree. However, they make the playoffs every year, which for most teams *cough* Atlanta *cough* would be good enough.
The Yankees have set such a high standard for themselves, that anything less than the World Series is a disappointment. and the spending spree only adds to the pressure |
