| Alfonso Soriano traded?? Interested?: Mets, Cardinals, Yankees
Summer blockbuster? Jun 3 - According to the Washington Post, the Nationals would prefer that Alfonso Soriano be part of their future. But, if not, he now commands the highest possible trade value. In a month or so, when trades get made, the Nats may have some leverage.
Soriano remains a potent offensive force, and his contract expires at the end of this season. He clearly prefers second base over left field, but is realistic about how his current experience will affect his marketability as a free agent. "If I like it, I got two choices next year: play left field or second base," he told the newspaper. "I work hard every day to try to help my team and to try to get better."
The Yankees, Mets and Cardinals all could have interest (either in the outfield or at second base), and many other teams might decide the same by July, the Washington Times reports.
