According to Jayson Stark on ESPN.com, Carlos Beltran's agent wants a 10-year 200 million dollar deal. However, the Astros have only offered 5 years for 70 mil, and even the Yankees have said they wont go much higher than that (5 years, 75-80 mil)
Obviously Scott Boras (Beltran's agent) thinks that this is 2000 again, when A-Rod and Manny signed those ridiculously large albatrosses they call contracts. After Texas got burned on the A-Rod deal, no team is gonna be that stupid to guanteee that much money |
