| I thought they both "won" in the sense that neither of them made any mistakes that I can see coming back to haunt them (like Kerry's "global test" phrasing or, well, uh, everything Bush did in last hour of the first debate).
I don't think there was any clear winner; I have a feeling the debate strengthened both campaigns. Cheney came across as knowledgeable and level headed, and that should help the republicans get back in stride after being shellshocked over the last few days. Edwards gained a lot because he had pretty much disappeared in the last few months, and now that he's managed to hold his own in a debate with a guy who's been around Washington for twenty years he looks more like someone who really could be president, and not just like some charming goof whose sole purpose is to give Kerry's campaign a personality. |
