When I first played ESPN after years and years of Madden gaming, I would have given it a 5 as well. Half the reason for my disliking ESPN was the simple fact that the "sprint" button is always A (XBox) instead of B on defense like in Madden. But you get used to the differences, and there are A LOT of differences, and you learn to appreciate the different gameplay... a lot. Another thing I hated about ESPN was that you couldn't roll-out to the sideline or drop back twenty yards to open field before passing the ball, you had to step up into the pocket, trust your line and find an open receiver -- like in the real NFL. Madden's pocket, although it improved this year, is still unreliable and you constantly have to roll out and roll out and drop back with a Trent Green or Brett Favre.

So basically, Mister D, I love ESPN and I love ESPN's gameplay, but I see exactly where you're coming from.
