| DMW, I didn't mean to come off as offended at all, sorry if it seemed that way.
I, too, think that Ricky Williams was overrated and one-dimensional as a running back, and I even said so in a recent post. But I guess that comes with the territory of breaking the NCAA rushing record at a high-profile university, and having a team trade its entire draft for you. Either way, he was an excellent football player, and one of the best examples in the NFL of a team building an offense around a single player. That is what cannot be replaced.
Like Mister D said, there is no back on Miami, and no back in free agency, that can take the ball and pound it inside 25-30 times a game, which means the ball is going to have be in the hands of A.J. Feeley a lot more often... and I don't think any offensive coordinator wants that. I don't know that Chris Chambers will see single coverage more than once or twice a game this season, now that safeties don't have to move up on every play to compensate for Ricky Williams.
It's just so much to replace. I think Boston's a good player, but he hadn't even taken a snap as a Dolphin, and a lot of people didn't think he would end up taking too many anyway. |
