The media has a very selective way of chosing what they report. That's why I don't watch the news anymore. You never hear about anything that's good in the world, all you ever hear about it how fucked up things are. The idea is consumerism. Making people afraid makes them spend. The media is nothing more than a tool for corperations and government to convince people they are not happy, comfortable, or safe in any way.
There's nothing wrong with keeping up with current events, but I tend to exercise my own judgment when following the press, something unfortunately a lot of people in the world are completely incapable of doing. |
