i agree with sader...and the main point is that it is stuff that happened [b:post_uid0]in the past[/b:post_uid0].

Im not trying to say that what happened to Indians and Africans should be forgotten, but people today should not be held accountable. should we keep blaming Germans for the Holocaust? That happened much more recently than slavery and manifest destiny.

on a side note, its funny that this thread got started today, because on monday night me and a bunch of my friends got into a discussion about this, and one of my friends (who was a Marine, so will whole-heartedly defend the U.S. no matter what) was saying "it was a war, the Indians lost, and they lost their land. Thats what happens in war. we gave them a chance to join our country, they refused, so now they have reservations where they can live, not pay taxes, and not enjoy the benefits our government provides us with"

I dont agree with him at all, i just think its interesting that the military man seemed to have a very jaded outlook on the situation
