| Situation in Iran I hope everyone has been following what is going on, as it's truly remarkable. If you haven't, there was an election (as Iran is supposedly a democratic state), and the Government said Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the current President, was re-elected with 62.6% of the vote. People in the US & around the world immediately reacted, calling the process a fraud. Other "leaked" results are showing his main competitor as actually beating him by over 4 million votes.
The young people have essentially gathered, using tools like Twitter & Friendfeed, and are rioting in the capital, Tehran. The Government is out patrolling the streets, and threatening to use live ammunition on the rioters if they do not calm down. This is huge, as you typically do not see this type of rioting in the middle east. What is especially encourage is that the young people of Iran are known to be very pro-usa, and strongly against the ayatollahs that technically "rule" the country.
