Re: One Night Stand - History And Discussion

Extremely (HA~!) bland PPV. Even the better ones had forgettable matches and were a far cry from being the best PPV of the year. The only reasons the first two worked was because of the whole ECW nostalgia. Besides Tanaka vs Awesome and Storm vs Jericho, the first one is very skippable unless you were an ECW die hard. The PPV is noteworthy for putting on the worst Benoit vs Guerrero match ever. 2006 was better, but still hardly great. The crowd saved a disappointing main event from bombing. The only thing worth seeing from 2007 was Orton vs RVD and even that is just around the 3 star range. 2008 produced one of the best WWE women's matches from this decade with Melina vs Beth. The TLC match is just paint-by-numbers ladder match. I know some like it, but it's the same ladder match (Not even done as well) that we've seen every time for a straight decade.

Overall, it's a pointless and trivial PPV. As bad as the King of the Ring's were, I'd rather see another one of those. At least with those you're getting something different from the rest of the year.
