Re: World Wrestling Entertainment 2k9 (Anything Can And Will Happen)

After the recent Board Of Director's meeting, the WWE has officially announced that both Extreme Rules and Cyber Sunday have been dropped from the WWE's yearly PPV Calendar. The official explanation given by Vince McMahon himself was that in this economy with WWE now being a single entity, as well as the fact that they have a smaller roster of talent to build upon, having 14 PPVs is not a smart business choice. As a result of the irradication of the brand split WWE is in a process of rebuilding their image and giving some of the mainstay talent the extra push that they need to become Main Event Superstars, having 14 PPVs does not work with that idea.

Another tidbit of news sent in by Rajah.com reader Jeremy is that Comcast Cable has officially changed the Night Of Champions synthosis to WWE PPV: To Be Announced, WWE Superstars battle it out to determine who will go onto face the Undisputed Champion at SummerSlam. By the sounds of this change, Night Of Champions is no longer a WWE PPV which makes sense since at that time WWE will only have three championships thus defeating the point of Night Of Champions. We cannot say for sure, but the explanation sounds like an indication that WWE is finally giving SummerSlam the "WrestleMania of the Summer" treatment once again and building up a contender well before the event in some sort of conceptual PPV. Much like how the winner of the Royal Rumble goes onto face the WWE Champion at WrestleMania.
