| Edge and Orton going back and forth to start the show is interesting and leads me to believe that whether it's Triple or HBK that Orton faces, he'll win and it'll set up feud between the two. Bischoff being back is good, I've always enjoyed him. I would have liked the Benjamin/HHH match to feel a little more like their first match when Benjamin first made the jump to Raw, where it was close, but it's all good. Cena is a hard guy to book, so I give you credit for having him on your show. I like the way Show won, with Shad and all. Shadding getting a main event rub? Me hopes so =]. Very good show overall. Nice read. |
As for the Undisputed Championship match at Judgment Day, Orton and Edge is a good guess but you'll just have to wait and see. With Orton, Edge, Jericho, Kennedy, HBK, and HHH all in the tournament still there are plenty intriguing combination that could happen. The beauty of booking a PPV like this where there is such a prestigious tournament is that you don't neccesarilly have to build up single matches or grudges (and in most cases it's almost impossible to do with tournaments since you can't really spoil the finals.) but the allure of the Undisputed Champion being crowned is enough to draw interest into the PPV.
To be more realistic I format my show with actual time stamps on everything that happens, as well with commercials. It reads almost like a really loose script for an actual episode of RAW. This is why every match cannot be given the royal treatment of 20-40 minutes. The point of HHH VS Benjamin was not only to push HHH forward in the tournament, but also to be a catalyst for setting up the reunion of the World's Greatest Tag Team. It's no secret that Charlie Haas's career has mostly been a joke since he broke up with Benjamin, Benjamin losing to Triple H was suppose to show that as a singles guy Benjamin hasn't quite been able to break the glass ceiling. This gave Benjamin proper reasoning to accept Haas's proposition of teaming up again and entering the Tag Team Number One Contenders match the next week. I suppose it's better to be top dogs in the Tag Divison than to float around doing less in singles.
As for Show, I don't know if you mis read the match but Show lost by countout. The point of the match was to do a few things. First to get Show to lose while maintaining his heat as a monster. Two, to write show off of TV for an undisclosed amount of time. I did this by having Bischoff suspend show for attacking the referee in anger after the referee counted him out. A lot of readers might question why I would write off a Main Event guy who is already established. There is a method to my madness and without spoiling anything for fans of the Big Show, he will make an impact down the line and will have a featured role in WWE 2K9.
I'm going to have to disagree with you that Cena is hard to book. Cena is a great tool for any fantasy booker to use. As you may know I drafted my guys at random from the WWE roster. I was pretty happy to get Cena. With Cena he has the kind of character established where he doesn't have to be in a World Championship feud. What I mean is, I can put him in a feud with a midcarder, and because that midcarder is feuding with Cena and is on equal playing fields he is instantly elevated. Also with Cena there is the big trump card which any Fantasy Booker could use, a heel turn. Not saying I will or I won't budge on it. But a properly done Cena heel turn could provide some very intriguing reading material.
As for Shad getting a push. Of course he is getting a push. You don't just cost a top dog one of the biggest matches of his career and end up doing nothing. There will be a few surprises with midcard guys getting monster pushes. The IC title will be a big catalyst for this because after Judgment Day when the WWE and World titles are unified there will only be both the Undisputed Championship and the IC Championship. The IC Championship will be more of an Upper Midcard/Main Event belt in WWE 2K9.
