| I had to go with the Rockers here. Sure, they never officially held the tag straps, but they didn't need to. No other tag team in the history of the WWF/E or the WCW/NWA had the continuity of Jannetty & Michaels. They had the best timing and chemistry, great double-team offense, and complemented each other the way a tag team should.
This isn't to say that the other teams on the list aren't great. My runner-up choice is Edge & Christian - especially during their 5-second-posing, crazy-ass-sunglasses-wearing, totally-reeking-of-awesomeness run as heel champions. They lacked in one area in which the Rockers stood above everyone else: double team moves. Their stacked superplex was an awesome move that they didn't do nearly enough, but aside from that, they really didn't do a lot of double teams.
Other honorable mentions are the Midnight Express, the Hart Foundation, LOD/Road Warriors, Demolition...the list goes on & on. Tag team wrestling needs desperately to make a comeback, because the current crop of teams can't hold a candle to the old school teams. |
