Can you think of things that people are willing to buy for themselves but they gain absolutely no benefit from them?.. i can think of two

1. A Webcam. Whats the point? you get no benefit out of it, the only people who benefit from it is everyone else! it has no use to YOU at all... make your friends buy you one instead

2. A Games console Multi Link adapter. Again whats the point.. you have no benefit.. the only people who benefit are your friends.. its no use to YOU at all... make your friends buy you one instead

Can anyone think of other items that are of no use to the purchaser.. but they benefit everyone else for free?
